What is a Co-Op?

What is a Co-Op?

Sugarland is a cooperative, which means our families work together to care for the  school, maintain the buildings, and support the staff. Parent participation in the classroom is welcomed but not required.

In order to support day-to-day operations of our school and keep tuition costs low, each family commits to assisting in school operations as well as cleaning and maintaining the facility and grounds. We make sure to work together to find the best fit for each family. When filling out your registration packets please make sure to fill out the volunteer form as this will help determine the best work commitments and times for you and your family. We know you already have hectic lives and busy schedules and it is our wish to make this a smooth and enjoyable experience. We want to give you low childcare costs while maintaining the same high quality care we have always strived for.

Below are some examples families commit to every year. If you don’t see something on the list that you would like to volunteer for/with please let us know; we love input and we love all the help we can get to care for our families:

  • Donate toys and books

  • Donate food

  • Purchasing Supplies

  • Donating and Purchasing Equipment

  • Time in the Classroom (Not required)

  • Expertises

  • Cleaning an area of the school

  • Landscaping

  • Facility Maintenance

  • Preparing Materials

We also hold 2 cleaning gatherings every year (April Spring Cleaning and October Winter Prep). We ask that every family participates in at least 1. This is also a time we can all come together to talk about how things have progressed throughout the year and how we might want to change things moving forward or to remain the same. Or even just to share successes and tips for other families.

Everyone's role is important and there are ample opportunities to connect with each other everyday, building a community as we work together to provide the best possible care for our children. Many special friendships are made among our little village.

Have any additional questions? Use the contact form below to get a hold of us!

*Please Note: Classroom participation is not mandatory and is limited during Covid-19.

"You'll never be bored when you try something new. There's really no limit to what you can do!"
